Roy! I love you, congrats! You deserve it all my love. Let’s collaborate sometime!!!
Zomg, Tumblr. My video poem, “Things We Both Know (Not Our Real Names),” shot and edited by Finn Paul and featuring a bunch of my new friends playing the part of my old friends, has been viewed over 700 times (?!). I’ve also been receiving amazing messages and comments from people who’ve been challenged or moved or stirred by the poem’s grappling with racism, love, homophobia, family and suicide, all big issues in my life that I didn’t even realize I had woven into this poem in a politically relevant way (I wasn’t avoiding politics, I just forgot that life is political for a second). I’m super humbled and so proud of what we made, more now than when we first posted the final edit. I hope more folks will like it and share it and talk to me about it. Thanks, everyone, for making it feel good to make things.
